Ruby's first public 1.0 release, delivered on Christmas Day.
Ruby reached its first public 1.0 release on December 25, 1996 (build 1.0-961225), a few years after Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto settled on the name and started building the language (Ruby was named before it existed). It was Ruby’s very first Christmas-Day ship, the seed of what later grew into The Christmas-release tradition. (Ruby history chronology)
