# MINASWAN

**MINASWAN** stands for **"Matz is nice and so we are nice."** It is the closest thing Ruby has to a golden rule: because the language's creator, [Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto](https://chunkybacon.dev/people/matz.md), is famously kind and welcoming, the community aspires to be the same. You will see it invoked to keep discussions friendly and to welcome beginners. It is a big part of why people describe Ruby as the friendliest corner of programming.
